The innovative SonicWALL Secure Distributed Wireless Solution scales to fit virtually any network deployment by simply distributing SonicPoints™ at optimal locations throughout the building. Available in IEEE 802.11a/b/g and 802.11b/g options, SonicPoints are dependent access points that are utilized to provide seamless, secure wireless LAN (WLAN) connectivity as well as advanced features and services.

SonicPoints can receive 802.3af power over Ethernet (PoE) to aid in their convenient deployment in any network.

The Secure Distributed Wireless Solution is built around the SonicWALL award-winning TZ 170 and PRO Series network security appliances which function as secure wireless switches and controllers, automatically detecting and configuring SonicPoints as they are added to the network while simultaneously enforcing security policies on all wired and wireless traffic.

SonicWALL SonicPoint and SonicPoint G

SonicPoints are tri-mode, dual band, dual radio, IEEE 802.11a/b/g compliant, dependent access points that provide secure mobility and wireless LAN connectivity for users on the network.

For customers requiring deployment flexibility, the SonicPoint G is a dual-mode, single band, IEEE 802.11b/g dependent access point with detachable high gain antennas.

Comprehensive Wireless and Wired Security. The SonicWALL Secure Wireless Solution provides total security enforcement, central management and scalability for both the wired and wireless networks through a single security platform.

Automatically Provisioned. SonicPoints provide plug- and-play capabilities for automatic configuration and management from the SonicWALL security appliance using pre-defined profiles.

WPA Support using TKIP or AES. In keeping with industry standards, SonicPoints can also support WPA for added security to the wireless network.

IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) Receive Capability. Accepts Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) allowing easy deployment, especially where electrical power is not readily accessible.

SonicWALL Power over Ethernet (PoE) Injector

The PoE Injector is an IEEE 802.3af compliant power injector that detects the presence of 802.3af compliant devices and “injects” power into the Ethernet cable.

Remote Power Feeding. PoE Injectors reduce the cost of deploying a wireless network infrastructure by supplying power directly to the SonicPoint through a standard Ethernet cable.

IEEE 802.3 Compliant. PoE Injectors deliver standards-based 802.3af Power over Ethernet automatically to SonicPoints or any 802.3af compliant device.

Ease-of-use. Take advantage of the PoE Injectors’
plug-and-play capabilities for rapid deployment of your wireless infrastructure.

Advanced Auto-sensing Algorithm. Utilize the PoE Injectors’ built-in intelligence to automatically determine and supply power only to devices that can accept 802.3af power over the Ethernet connection.

When combined with any SonicWALL secure wireless solution, the SonicWALL Long Range Dual Band Wireless Card delivers superior throughput, range, and impenetrable wireless IPSec security.

IEEE 802.11a/b/g Compliant. The Long Range Dual Band Wireless Card ensures interoperability with any IEEE 802.11a/b/g compliant wireless LAN product.

Up to 108Mbps 802.11a and 802.11g Data Rates. Attain high-speed data rates when using the Long Range Dual Band Wireless Card with SonicWALL SonicPoints.

SonicWALL Security Appliances

In addition to providing powerful firewall and VPN performance and layered network security, SonicWALL TZ 170 and PRO Series security appliances serve as the managing appliance for SonicPoints, providing auto-configuration and central management.

Central Management. Conveniently manage and configure all SonicPoints from the management interface of the SonicWALL security appliance.

Centralized Security Policies. Enforce corporate security policies for both the wired and wireless network from a single management interface.

Advanced Wireless LAN Features. Deploy advanced WLAN features such as wireless intrusion detection, wireless firewalling, secure wireless roaming, and Wireless Guest Services (WGS) throughout the network.

IPSec Enforcement over the WLAN. Require wireless clients connect to the WLAN through a trusted IPSec VPN tunnel.
